General Information

The “IL-1 Family of Cytokines” conference offers the opportunity for participants to submit an abstract for presentation in a poster session. In addition, some selected abstracts will be orally presented. Abstracts will be printed in the Program Booklet to be distributed at the meeting.

If you plan to submit an abstract, please carefully read the instructions in the sections below. Abstracts are to be submitted as an attachment to e-mail ONLY to abstracts@clearwater2011.com and must be received on or before the February 8, 2011 deadline.

Author Contact Information

The e-mail accompanying the abstract should provide the complete contact information for the first author (name, full address, fax, phone and email). The first author will be the corresponding person to whom confirmation of receipt of the abstract, acceptance and placement in the program will be sent.

Preparation of Abstracts

Note: All abstracts must be prepared according to the guidelines provided. Incomplete or incorrect submissions will be returned to the author and must be re-submitted correctly by the deadline to be considered for presentation.
  • Abstracts should be prepared and saved as a Word (.doc) file.
  • Submit abstract as an attachment to e-mail to abstracts@clearwater2011.com

Titles & Authors

  1. The title should be short and concise and indicate the content of the abstract (maximum 2 lines).
  2. The title should be in all capital and bolded letters. The last word of the title should be followed by a punctuation mark (period, question mark, exclamation point, etc.)
  3. The font for the title should be Times Roman in 10 point.
  4. Do not use abbreviations in the title of the abstract.
  5. The author(s) name should be typed with first name and initials first followed by last name. Use commas to separate the author’s names. Use normal typing (upper and lower case) for author’s names (not all capital letters or bold)
  6. The name of the presenting author should be underlined.
  7. Do not include titles or degrees.
  8. Enter a superscript number after each author’s name to correspond to their organization (see #9 this section). No superscript necessary if only one author.
  9. The author(s) organization should follow and begin with a superscript number to correspond to the author.
  10. The organization name should be followed by city, state and country where the work was performed. Do not include phone, fax or email information for the authors.
  11. Use normal typing for organization, city, state, country (upper and lower case - not all capital letters or bold)
  12. Type authors(s) organization, city, state and country in Times Roman 10 Italic.

Body of Abstract

  1. Skip 2 lines before typing the text of the abstract. There should be no indentation.
  2. The font should be Times Roman (including symbols) in 10 point
  3. Special characters must be inserted into the document using the INSERT SYMBOL function. If your symbols are unusual, not readily identifiable, or inserted in a way other than the “insert symbol function”, it would be helpful to include the symbol and its written form in an accompanying e-mail.
  4. Ensure that your abstract is grammatically correct and free of typographical errors.
  5. Abstracts cannot be edited after submission.
  6. Use single spacing throughout the document.
  7. The text of the abstract should be a single paragraph with no sections.
  8. The text should not exceed 300 words.
  9. When using abbreviations spell out the word in full at the first mention and follow with the abbreviation in parenthesis.

Author Notification

  • a return e-mail will be sent to the first author acknowledging receipt of the abstract.
  • Notification of acceptance of abstracts and placement in the program will be sent by e-mail in mid to late March, 2011.
  • Instructions for poster presentations will be included with the notification of acceptance.
  • Authors of abstracts accepted for an oral presentation will be notified at this time and will receive details regarding oral presentations.
